Hey everyone!
So I have been needing to jump start my 2007 Audi A3 3.2 V6 almost daily for about two weeks now. I took it to the Audi Dealer and this is what they said:
"PERFORMED PARASITIC DRAW TEST DUE TO BATTERY DRAINING OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. FOUND WITH AMP CLAMP INSTALLED ON BATTERY A INTERMITTENT SPIKE RANGING FROM 200MA TO 3A. WHEN THESE SPIKE OCCURRED UNPLUGGED RADIO AND FOUND CURRENT SPIKE TO DROP AND RETURN WHEN PLUGGED BACK IN. THIS IS DUE TO A TERMINAL 50 CIRCUIT IN RADIO STAYING ON. PROVIDED ESTIMATE."
They want to swap out the whole radio for about $3K. My question is this- do I really need to swap the radio or can the Terminal 50 Circuit be replaced/serviced? Or is a aftermarket radio a solution for this for a fraction of the cost?
Please any help would be wonderful! Thank you guys before hand.

To add to my last reply.. I also notice that when I jump it, if I drive about 10- 15 minutes and I turn the car off and leave for about an hour, it would start okay. But it always goes dead over night

I'd get a new radio. In addition, you might find an electronics repair shop and get a quote for a fix, but only if you want to keep your OEM radio for the future, or sell it. I heard recently that there are some shops or businesses that repair ECM's. Might try one of those if you really like your OEM radio.
