I leased a 2002 jetta wagon for my wife - and traded it 3 or 4 months later for our A6 (needed quattro for new house). Since there was no blue book value for the jetta yet, a local VW dealer bought it from me - wholesale - for $500 more than I owed on the lease.
So, I think it's all about supply and demand.
Just go ask any owner of an Enzo that sold their's within the first year of ownership...

seems like my A3 start having more issues .... besides opensky and radiator.
im start getting some strange engine/transmission noises and wibration while going over 85ml/h
seems like this car may have more potential issues then i need + value seems crappy + looks like no demand at all.
btw my audi dealer telling me that more of A3's strat coming back to service with some issues.

Re: have you pressed AUDI to take it back.. If the car is in warranty you are not being an A@@
Audi USA was useless... theyt just refering me back to dealers service department

the final # is $29000 local audi dealer whining that A3 dont sell well... Im honestly dont care just wanna out of this car. btw as you know i paid for my A3 3.2Q 4250 over invoice. so there is a loos for me today but overroll i would feel better.
Im getting 330xi totaly loaded just for $400 over invoice as all others bimmers i was buying from this place.
