My dad went to a volkswagen dealer the other to inquire about the upcoming Jetta Sportwagon, the dealer said the car had been delayed from October till April because the factory had burned down. After a quick search on the net i can't find anything about this. Anyone else hear about this?

From VWoA:
As a result of a fire at a supplier factory, we have lost two weeks worth of 2.5L engine production in late June. While the full impact of the production loss is yet to be determined, the volume is significant enough to cause us to evaluate our options for minimizing the impact on retail sales for the balance of 2007.
As you know, the 2.5L is the primary engine for the Jetta, Rabbit, New Beetle, and New Beetle Convertible. It was also planned to be the exclusive engine for the launch volume of the new Jetta SportWagen, which was scheduled to start production for the US market in July, with a launch in September.
While we are still determining the total impact of the lost engine production, it is clear that we will have some production losses for all car lines using the 2.5L engine. To that end, we have developed a plan to minimize the impact on production losses and retail sales by delaying the introduction of the Jetta SportWagen until the spring of
next year.
