Default Weird Brake problem!

Can anyone help?

I have a weird problem with my 1.9tdi a3 99 model.
It has not turned a wheel for approx 6/7 weeks and now I check it over ready for MOT Friday the brakes arnt working.

The brake pedal is hard but I think it is electrical fault because when driving press the brake pedal and accelerator at sime time and the revs die off to idle speed release brake pedal, press accelerator again and revs are back.

Whilst driving with foot on accelerator then press brake pedal at same time the brakes dont come on until the revs begin to die off.

Very strange
Havent got vag-com and dont know anyone with one either.
Thanks

Check for a vacuum leak to the booster.

Beat me to it n828cl.

Had a look and found a leak fixed that and brakeing is back to normal.
It is still doing the dieing revs but wonder if that is normal now too?

Default Could be another vacuum leak somewhere else - upsets the A/F ratio.

Could be a myriad of other things as well. Any codes stored?

Default Would these tell me the problem?

If I bought one of these VAG-COM USB KKL OBD 2 Cable (www.//cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300030239284#ebayp hotohosting)
and download vag-com 409.1 from ross-tech that would give me the fault codes would it?
