WEIRD NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING FORM A STAND STILL ON A CORNER.
When i pull out quickish form a sideroad, so on left or right lock, there is a really weird noise. the only way to describe it is ABS but not from braking too hard.
anyone else go this? its from a 1998 a3 1.8T Sport.
Thanks

Re: WEIRD NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING FORM A STAND STILL ON A CORNER.
I had a noise just like that (March 02 TDi 130 Sport), but not from standstill, it was when accelerating hard in lower gears round corners. It started after Audi messed around with linkages and changed the oil when they were investigating a slight gearbox noise, I took it back in and they replaced the whole gearbox anyway under warranty, never did find out exactly what it was, soz.
I think they hadn't put something back in properly as they had the box out initially. It definately wasn't something just catching, it was a moving part making the noise from the front nearside.

It could be EDL, electronic differential lock.
When pulling away with full lock the inner wheel tends to be heavily loaded and starts to spin. The computer via edl causes the diff to slip until the wheel gets more traction. Someting like that.
I have a A3 TS '98 and was told someting like this by a mechanic.

It is the ESP (electronic stability program). It works by applying the brakes selectively to different wheels to try and keep the car on the same curve as you want it. - That is why it sounds a bit like ABS..
