Remember those? I had an old 245GL outfitted with all kinds of suspension gear to deal with that massively heavy body. It was relatively slow, but still quite a fun car which could easily shift to an amazing party-mobile, hauling all the booze and food for a full evening bash.

Mine had Bilsteins, lowering coils, strutbrace, IPD upgrades. Hauled just about everything, and still pretty fun to drive.11 faithful years of utility and fun, but the daughter totalled it in January. I think she did it on purpose - didn't want to be Volvo mom, never appreciated the car, and ended up getting a new A3 out of the deal.
yeah - the 2,7,9 and 850 series were great cars and wagons, definitely fine, simple to service tools (unless you had a 6 cyl or 16V). I'm not near as enchanted with the cars they now manufacture - my wife has a newer sedan I call 'turdbucket' - hate that sumbich. '97 was the last good year for Volvo.
