What kind of oil in our A3?
I know the spec says Audi 502.00 (I think) but does anyone know the brand and weight of oil from the factory? Just curious. Clearly no one here has changed oil yet so it would be interesting to find out what kind of oil various service departments use for this vehicle.

Re: The break-in oil is usually different - no detergents. I think synthetic is the only type
Yeah I know the first fill of oil from the factory usually contains special additives. Just wondering whether they're using Castrol, Mobil 1 or whatever. Also what weight. It's so nice to move into the Audi fold since we get the regular maintenance covered. I didn't get that with my Touareg and that costs an arm and a leg to maintain. I did get the same with my previous Bimmer though.

If you look at the C5 FAQ under my sig, you'll see that many of our synthetics
don't measure up to the German standards - including some weights of Mobil 1. You can get German spec stuff from some places.
Not sure, but our dealer used a large oil wholesaler who came with huge trucks that filled tanks with different spec oils. What exactly it was, was probably only on the invoice. The techs just had spigots labeled with different weights.

Actually the Castrol oil I used for my M3...
was manufactured in Germany if I'm not mistaken. Of course we had to pay a premium for the stuff and it's only available from the dealer.
