Default Seems I see one on the road once every couple weeks now in VA.

I don't think anyone should expect this to ever be a big seller. It's expensive and very much an acquired taste.

Default Garnet Red in San Diego.

Maybe soon! If you see a Garnet Red around, it will most likely be me! Just another week or so. :-)

What area of San Diego are you in?

Default Up on the south rim of Mission Valley...

Even so, I usually go to Hoehn Audi, which is a long way. I recently had service at Mira Mar.

What dealer are you getting you Audi from?

Default Take a trip out to Metrowest / Cambridge / Boston. I see A3s all the time.

There aren't many Audis period in Worcester. Mostly civics with big wings and loud exhausts.

Default I've only seen one so far

In the Intel parking lot this week - brillant black/black premium 6sp. Sunset says they sold a garnet red to a Nike guy. They had a couple of beige in stock last time I was there kicking the tires.

Default Re: Up on the south rim of Mission Valley...

I'm out towards Ramona and spend a lot of time in Poway, Scripps Ranch, and Carmel Mountain/Rancho Bernardo.

As far as dealers in S.D. go... I originally avoided the closest dealer, Miramar, because I didn't want to take my car to their overcrowded service department.

The salesman at the downtown dealer tried to push me into buying one from stock instead of ordering exactly what I wanted and they are also pretty far away so they were not my first pick.

Hoen seemed like the best bet and I was all set to buy. The salesman was new and said I had to talk to the sales manager about the price. I waited a loooong time for the sales manager to come over and when he finally came over he brought the paperwork for me to sign with a price at MSRP! I was not happy and after making it sound like he was giving up his first born, he offered $500 below MSRP. Overall, the salesman was uninformed and the sales manager was a jerk.

So I gave Miramar a try. It turns out that they service Audi's at a separate facility and they were willing to cooperate with a fair price. They've also recently moved the Audi part of the dealer into the front of the dealership so now you have to walk past the Audi's to get to the VW's. They've also replaced all the VW's in the front with Audi's so it looks like their focus is shifting towards Audi.

So, as you can probably tell, I would recommend Miramar. You can also go through Costco and get a good price, which I believe is $750 over invoice.

Good luck!

Default My impression is...

Hoehn is the "Nordstrom" of dealers. That's where I bought my TT. In 2001, the price of a TT was not negotiable, so I paid MSRP. They always gave me great Class A service, and a loaner (Honda).

Mira Mar strikes me as a "JCPenny" class dealer. I would always have to take my car for service at Hoehn, because Mira Mar would not give me a loaner, because I did not buy there.

Metro's dealership (building) reminds me of a "KMart". I do not know how they are, as I have never been there. It's actualy closest to me.

It sounds like there will not be much of a price difference (typical Audi) between dealers. But getting a loaner during service more than makes up for a few hundred dollars difference.

Now that I am out of warranty, I can take the car anywhere. Metro said there is a 3 week waiting list for service. Mira Mar took me the next day. I got great service at Mira Mar.

It sounds like you made a good choice of dealers, since they are closest to you.
