Default Who had their A3 located from another dealer and had more than the normal 12-20 miles on the clock?

My car is coming in on monday (today) and will be prepped for tuesday pickup. I live on Long Island and it is coming from Cherry Hill, NJ...90 some odd miles away. The car has 17 miles on it at the Jersey dealership. It is the ONLY car with S-Line in the Tri-State area that is closest to me. I told my sales guy to tell the driver to make sure to vary RPM and not to fart in the car with the windows closed. But I wanted to know if anyone else had to have their car of choice located and driven to their dealership. I was sitting in a burnt orange S5 at the dealer that had about 125 miles that was delivered there that day for a customer (that car is smokin' hot, BTW). So, is this somewhat normal. I don't love the idea of someone else de-virginizing my baby but what can you do. It'll still have a hell of alot of breaking in to do and 100 miles ain't alot. Plus, these cars don't really have a ton of breaking in to do anyway, right?

We had our A3 trucked over from a different dealer for the same reason as you, but because it was trucked it only had about 20 miles on it.

Default FWIW I had my B5 S4 driven from Manhattan dealership to NJ. It had 116 miles when delivered.

I wasn't too thrilled about it, but I had 72k engine problem-free miles after that. So no worries.

Flip side of that is I saw a B6 S4 when they first came out being revved to high hell by one of the salesmen in the parking lot of the NJ dealership. Hopefully a demo unit and most people don't buy demo units for just such reasons.

I know apples to oranges, but another thing to think about is Corvette dealerships pull those cars in and out of the dealership every day so they are not outside overnight. And there doesn't seem to be any break-in related issues with those engines.

Default Optioned the way I wanted, the car was not available except at another dealership about 40 miles

away. Plus it was their showroom car. I worried for a long while about how the car would be beat on, but that anxiety has gone away a year later.

Oh, as we went through the education process of the different systems, I found a bunch of candy wrapers, etc in the center console.

Mechanically, I can't point to anything that would be different had I picked the car up without the delivery miles.
