Why not GTI

I've had 4 VWs (Mk2 Golf, Mk3 Golf, Mk4 GTI, Mk3.5 Cabrio), so I'm not a VW hater. But, it's impressive how much better the service is from Audi. It's a little thing, but has been very noticeable.
When we picked up the A3, I sold the Mk4 GTI as I needed 4 doors 'now' and there wasn't a 4 door GTI (or Jetta wagon) yet. I can't speak for the Mk5 cars, but there is more room behind the back seat in the audi than there was in my GTI. With a baby in the back seat, the second set of doors, as well as more room in the back was a big deal for me.

Other than the engine, I was underwhelmed. The interior seemed to be sourced from Rubbermaid. Definately had a "boy racer" feel to it.
I also noticed a large delay in heavy throttle response at all speeds. Seemed like more than turbo lag, hesitation down-shifting? I need to retest the A3 to see if this is the same.

The A3 will drive similar, but be a touch slower because of the added weight.
The programming for the A3 DSG might even be less "performance" oriented, but I have no facts. I have no proof, but I would sound reasonable given the target market.
