Why won't my OBDII reader read any codes?

A3 on it's 4th CEL - first three were #2 Cylinder Misfire
I fear that the dealer, discovering that the car will be a lemon after the 4th same code, will tell me it's a different code....where can I go in the bay area to get the car vag'd?
