Has anyone got any tips for getting rid of the years of car wash wax build up on my windscreen. The glare is terrible from oncoming headlights at night. Have tried many household and car window cleaners, but no joy.
Cheers

If you think it's a build up of wax etc, try scraping the windscreen surface clean with a razor or stanley knife blade.....it may help, it does the job with paint and tar.

This isn't the best solution but what I tend to do is:
1) wash car etc
2) clean windows with autoglym fast-glass, or similar
3) autoglym glass-polish, or similar
I've also heard things like:
Put vinegar on a cloth, and rub over the windscreen. And also put a touch of vinegar and/or fairy liquid in your washer bottle.
Some form of alcohol based cleaner might clean the grime of too.
Let us know what solves it.

Have you tried visiting your local auto paint shop and buying a tin of "Wax and Grease Remover", also known as Prepsol? I use this followed by one of the rain repelling solutions (like Rain-ex) and it works a treat.
Prepsol is also useful for clearing accumulated unknown products from a car's paint before doing a serious polish and waxing.

I only managed to try out one of the methods listed but I thought I would let you know how it went. I used vinegar (only had white wine vinegar on the shelf) which I applied to half the window using kitchen towel, being carefull not to get any on the paint incase it damages it. There was definatley an improvement, although given the crap weather it wasnt long before it needed doing again.
Thanks for the tips
