Default I simply think it's an annoying unnecessary feature...

Just another thing to break on the Audi at 50,000miles. I personally would not spend the $800 that it costs on the A3.
They do lose their intensity with time.

Default Re: Yes!

I test drove the A3 with Halogens at night and found them inadequate. If safety is a concern get the Xenons. I wouldn't buy a car without them if they're available.

Default And that is the exact reason why they are not standard...

... because some folks just don't want to pay for what they claim they don't need.

Granted, halogen bulbs light up the road in front of you just fine.

And then there is light!

Default Something else that needs to be addressed is to check and make sure headlights

are properly aimed on a regular basis.

Default My 99.5 A4 had washers with halogens, but I think all A4's came with washers then.

Now they're optional.......

Default that is a good point and seems to be especially important with the xenons...

it is another reason why I'm not so keen on the rotating lights available in the A3.

Default well, if they're so great why aren't they standard equipment?...

Seems to me the fact that they are optional proves the fact that they are not 'the answer' and that many people don't like/want them.
Like I've said, I had them on my B5. I didn't get them on new Boxster...
