1.8t 2015 A3 losing power during long drives
I've recently been having an issue with my A3 where after driving for say 10-15 minutes, when I get on the gas going 60-70mph, instead of the engine revving on the downshift and feeling the car get into boost and accelerating, it will just downshift raise the rpms only partially, and the car will never feel like it gets into boost. It will then take over twice as long to accelerate as it normally would and it feels like the engine has no power. I initially thought I had a boost leak, but after doing some experimenting on the road and stopping the car, turning the engine off and turning it back on when it happened, it seemed that the issue went away after turning the car back on. However, the time I tried this, after getting back on the road and driving, when I would get up to around 5-6k rpm, the engine would quickly bog down and stutter for about a second, then come back to, then bog down again, and so on. Almost like a misfire. This only happened that one time and never happened again. I've had an EPC light on for some time but the last time I scanned it it signaled a turbo vane position error, which at the time that it first popped up and for a long time thereafter, never caused any noticeable issues. Any idea on what the problem might be?
