2015 S3 3,200 RPM at 45mph

My S3 has 1,100 miles on it now. At seemingly random times will leave itself in 3rd or 4th gear at rpm above 3,000 instead of shifting when I hit cruising speed. Previously had a 2010 A5 Cabrio and 2013 S5 Cabrio and never experienced this with those cars. Does anyone else experience this? I'm in Phoenix where temps can get up to 110+. Could the heat have something to do with this?

Just to be that guy.. you are not in dynamic mode with "sport" on right?
Sometimes if you are a hands on kind of guy and row through gears in tiptronic mode you end up accidentally hitting sport when you shift back to auto, which would definitely explain the hanging rpms.
I assume you are watching the D/S differences but have to ask.

That was the first thing I checked. I've even changed it to Comfort and the dash shows D. I can manually up shift it to a more appropriate gear, but after a brief time of driving, the cars goes back into automatic mode and after the next traffic light has the same symptoms.

I thought I saw a forum post somewhere of a European (Germany?) S3 "sticking" in sport mode in high heat conditions - can't find it now. I don't recall a resolution, but you may not be alone

I'm going to take it in and see what the dealer says. Heat may very well be a factor because it rarely does it in the morning hours. Most often is afternoon when temps are well over 105.

I have the exact same problem with my S3, delayed up shift on hot days ~105F and higher. Does not make any difference in S or D. My wife's A3 up shifts just fine on hot days. I am also in Phoenix. The Dealer is Audi North Scottsdale and service tech is Jason. Let him know your problem.

S mode dose not force a shift up any sooner than D mode. Below 100F D mode up ****s at lower rpm than S. This is normal. In M mode, up shifts and down shifts perform perfect at all ambient temperature.

I have the same issue in Texas. Frequent temperatures over 100 degrees has allowed me to loathe this issue. I've taken it to the dealer and do not have an answer yet but the car just does not seem to want to jump up to the next gear when the ambient temperature is marked above 99degrees. It will stay in 4th gear up past 3000 rpm, and shifting it into sport mode, drives like its in sport mode. Its been at the dealer for a few days but I've yet to get an answer or solution. The car has 9000 miles on it at this point.
