@leftoverture
So what did you find? If you actually looked you will see that the coils in the "easy" video are the push down type, an older version. The newer coils are bolt down type.and the connectors have a different orientation. Agree?

If you read my first post in this thread you would see that I am only shopping at this point and don't yet have my own A3. The one I had my eye on sold before I could get out to look at it.

After reading this thread I realized that my plugs were overdue for a change by about 15K miles. Doing them on the 2.0T 2016 A3 was a pretty simple process. I have done plenty of other Audi/VW plugs but this one is just a bit different.

The only thing I had to study for a bit was whether I needed to remove anything to get the coil pack harness back far enough to clear the coils. Turns out I didn't. First remove the 10mm nut on the coil pack stud that is holding a ground wire. Then all I did was loosen the harness from the rear of the engine towards the front. With each just move the harness back far enough so it starts to disengage, about half an inch. Once they are all loose you can work the entire thing back to clear the coil packs without removing anything else.

The coils are bolted down with a 10mm stud that also has a ground attached as mentioned above. Once that's off each coil it's pretty smooth sailing to get the rest of the job done.

Can you explain what the following sentences mean: Then all I did was loosen the harness from the rear of the engine towards the front. With each just move the harness back far enough so it starts to disengage, about half an inch.
I understand the words but not the meaning.
Thanks

I meant start at plug 4 at the rear of the engine by the transmission and work towards plug 1 at the front of the engine. From driver side towards the passenger side in other words.

Thanks for the clarification. How did you release the connectors? Just by pulling or did you have to manipulate the release mechanism?

They are the usual Audi/VW 'push pull' connectors. Push the entire thing towards the coil then pull the little tab at the rear of the harness, you should then be able to work them off little by little as described in my original note. When re-connecting just push them on til you hear the click when they lock back on.
