Default Are the A3's factory brakes really "sticky"?

I've noticed this on my mother's 2015 A3 cab. as well, and I just recently bought a new (to me) 2015 A3 2.0, with around 5k miles on it.

I've noticed that the brakes are SUPER sticky--I barely touch them, and they bite immediately, so there's not a whole lot of easing in or out of them. I'm coming from a 2013 BMW 335i, which had great brakes, but there was a lot more give before they started to catch. When I'm pulling out of the garage, there's basically no way to apply the brakes enough to slow the transmission without jolting the car to a stop.

Am I crazy, or is this something others have experienced?

Haha this is normal I came from a 2007 Mazda 3 where you had to push the brake pedal in quite a bit to stop. So when I got my 2015 A3 2.0 I had the same experience as you, but I say give it about 2 weeks or less to get comfortable with the car and after that you'll be used to it and they won't feel as bitey immediately after pushing in the pedal.

yep, they are pretty grabby. either I got used to it, or it tones down a little after you pile on the miles.

I noticed that on my wife's '15 S3 compared to my '13 RS5, but as will13k7 says, you get used to it.

I here ya.

When entering my garage, trying to inch up to the furnace, well, it's annoying. It's a lurch and grab operation. One day I'll "lurch" right into the furnace.

That would be a bad look....

Thanks! I can definitely feel my foot adjusting, but its definitely stiff compared to the BMWs.

Anybody have experience with ceramic brakes? Those typically provide much more even pressure.

Hey Red, welcome to the forum. Yeah it's very sensitive and you can't ease off of the brakes as well (all or nothing). I'm not a big fan, coming from a BMW as well, and it's giving my passengers a headache. Anyone have a solution to make the brakes more linear or is it just part of brake system?

In just normal driving, I don't have any issues. I'm not a big fan of DSG but the wife.... well, you know, as close to clutch as I can get.
