Default Has anyone tried the APR DQ250 DSG Upgrade

I considering a DSG tune to improve driveability in "D". Unless significant pressure is put on the gas the car tends to shift at 2000 and drops down to about 1200 so it always feels a little sluggish. Sport mode is too aggressive (just winds out the gears) and never goes into 5th or 6th for optimum mileage. I'm considering the DSG tune to raise the shift points in D so the car drives a little more "normally"rather than trying to be ultra economical. I've tried doing the manual gear changes but dont like it. I've driven a manual most of my life and shifting gears in an automatic isnt close to the same thing. I'm asking if anyone here has tried the APR DSG tune and if you were happy with it.

I heard that you need an engine tune in order to get the DSG tune.

by itself the DSG tune might not be very effective. Although I wish someone here that knows more could elaborate.

Please read my thread on the Sprint Booster V3. There is one also for the A3 and S3.

Thanks. I'll look into that.

I have the APR DQ250 DSG tune in my Mk7 GTI. It's a nice improvement over stock and tops among the four TCU tunes that I have tried.

I installed the Sprint Booster V3 and it solves some of my issues. Definitely makes the car more responsive and fun to drive. I think this transmission is slow to downshift when you try to accelerate quickly while moving. But the Sprint Booster makes a significant different in accelerating from a stop and overall driveability.
