So I wanted to start a new thread on how to do this because I have been seeing multiple threads. I currently have a 2015 A3 with the Nav package and I want to try to mirror my iPhone 6. Would the below work? Thoughts?

FWIW, I haven't tried, but does the iPhone mirror the screen through the lightning a/v adapter, or just video?

If not, iPhone will screen mirror via AppleTV. Then connect AppleTV with those other connectors. You will need VIM dongle to unlock video too (which you did, but it is not on your list).

I researched some and it appears that Apple digital a/v adapter will work. Realize when the screen mirror is of the iPhone home screen, it will be in portrait orientation. You may want to test the various apps you wish to use in the car by connecting to your TV or computer monitor and see if you like how it all works. Then get the rest of the hardware needed for the install.

If you intend this to be a build thread, you can edit your #1 post with updates to make post #1 complete build. You should add the VIM dongle you purchased to the #1 post.

Is the VIM dongle mentioned in the other thread currently the only way to unlock video in motion? I have a non-navigation s3 coming in about two weeks and am interested in a similar setup mirroring my phone to the mmi. However, I haven't seen anyone with a non-navigation system confirm that the dongle worked for them, and even if this setup works it's useless for me without VIM as I want to use screen mirroring primarily for Google maps navigation. Thanks.
