I found a video that explained the method to add a LED to the cupholder and I decided to throw some LED's in the footwells too.

I added the footwell lights and I am happy with the results. The pictures are at full intensity but I usually set it about 75% in actual use.

Thats pretty cool. Can you change the colors on the mmi or they just red leds that you put in there?

Those are just simple red "bolt" style LED's that I have wired into the dimmer for the dashboard lighting. I cannot change the colors, but I am happy with the match with the rest of the red lighting in the car so it works just fine for my purposes.
