originally the text messages would be read on the MMI but it no longer works. I cant figure out why?

on the MMI you got to go to TEL settings and make sure Bluetooth is connected to your phone for Text.

it is. I also erased the profile and reattached the phone. no luck.

You're lucky because I've never been able to get my 2015 A3 read any messages from my iPhone. The infotainment blows in this car.

Mine stopped working when the last iPhone update was released. Never have been able to get it to work again.

For the guys with iPhones (had same issue) ensure 'Show Notifications' is turned on as the update (I believe) switched this off.
On your iPhone go to Settings / Bluetooth / select the little blue circled 'i' at side of the Audi device and switch on 'Show Notifications'
