My owners manual says 39 psi for front, 36 psi rear for a normal loaded car.

This is correct. I verified it with the Audi Service department. 44 psi on the door is the max. I also called Audi thinking it was a bit high, their recommendation 39 front, 36 rear matches the owner's manual.

My Cabrio says 36 front 33 rear. Works for me.

Is this for A3/S3? 19" wheels/tire package? I don't want to just randomly start changing the pressure.

Check your owner's manual. The recommended normal load and max load pressures for the various stock wheel/tire combos are in there. It's all there on page 255 and 256. The normal tire pressure is rated for up to 3 people in the car. Max load is for 4 people plus trunk and roof fully loaded to the rated max.

I have Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 235/35ZR19 tires on my A3 Cab. Paperwork that came with the tires indicated not to go below 42 PSI.

People with thin skins should not post comments on forums.

Not familiar with 19". This is my third car with DWS's. Never heard of this--have always used mfg recommended psi. Have DWS-06 on my Cabri (18"). 36F 33R. Still works for me. What kind of paperwork are you referring to?
