APR has had stage 1 for a while:

Stage 1+ comes with the software and limited warranty ... from what I read.

That's only for the 8V. No ones cracked the ECU for the 8Y yet and there won't be an estimated time frame for when it should happen. One day someone will have cracked it, but until then none of the tuners are going to say anything other than soon.

Hank at Iroz did mention tunes are "close" as well as Syvecs, but I don't know when close will be however I would think he'd be more in the know than a lot of folks so I'm hopeful!

What is the issue making it so difficult to crack? What are the potential numbers for a tuned car?

I don't know the specifics. I just know it's something to do with the bosch ecu they started using. Normally I think it's a continental simos ecu. That's what was used in the mk8s, and I think 8Y S3s, and that ones been cracked. The B9 S4s use the bosch ecu and I believe that took tuners 2 or 3 years to crack it.
