Does the DSG take the same fluid as a regular manual tranny? Say 75W-90?

I was thinking of swapping out the tranny fluid for Redline 75W-90, as a 6 spd would take. Does it take the same stuff?

Default But is that basically tranny fluid for a manual gearbox? I mean, manufacturers have alot of specific

stuff that can be substituted by aftermarket things. Like dealer 502 oil and using Elf, Motul or Lubro-Moly instead of Castrol group III synthetic. The Audi/VW fluid is not a 75W-90 weight I guess then.

Default I think the smart money is on just using the proper fluid.

Alternatively maybe have a sample of DSG fluid analyzed for the sake of determining potential alternatives.

Default Wet clutches = Don't risk it!

I believe that the transmission fluid also circulates through the wet clutch assembly. It would be critically important for the fluid to not only have the correct viscosity, but also the correct friction and heat transfer characteristics.

It could be that it was designed to use a standard fluid, but unless you know for sure, I wouldn't risk it.

Yeah, I guess so. Ain't worth it. I'll ask the techs, though. Not that they know more than we do

Manual tranny oil is for manual gearboxes only, not autos
