Trying to replace the A3 center brake light at the top of the hatch, but having difficulty removing the interior molding to access the brake light, or am I going at the entirely wrong? Any ideas?

Removing and installing high-level brake light
Removing
Caution
t To facilitate removal of high-level brake light it is sufficient to unclip and bend back top edge of trim at top of rear lid only.
t To prevent trim at top of rear lid breaking (it must not have a temperature below 20 °C) use hot air blower to slightly heat up trim at top of rear lid, if necessary. This applies to older vehicles in particular.
– Unclip and bend back trim at top of rear lid at top securing clips → Rep. gr.70.
– Press fasteners -1- together at sides -arrows- using long-nose pliers.
– Press high-level brake light out of rear lid recess starting at right.
– Unplug electrical connector -2-.
NoteThe electrical connector can only be unplugged with high-level brake light removed.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
NoteIf the LEDs are defective, the complete high-level brake light must be renewed.
– Pull fasteners -2- in direction of -arrow- to engage them; the spring -1- must be tensioned.
– Plug in electrical connector and insert high-level brake light into recess in rear lid.
– Press high-level brake light into recess until fasteners engage.
– Install trim at top of rear lid → Rep. gr.70.
