Default Thermostat issue

Hi Folks. Anybody have their thermostat stick open? Normally the temp gauge is at o'clock after warm up. Twice now it got stuck at 10 o'clock. Seemed to clear itself up. I'm hours from the dealer..hasn't happened when I'm nearby.

Any thoughts? Have others had o'clock issues? Ill wait till it happens when I'm near the dealer or all the time. Beats having it stick closed.

08 A3, 12k miles.

Chip

Default Not necessarily the thermostat

When my coolant temp sensor started to fail the gauge did a few funky things. Using a thermo probe in the coolant expansion tank I determined the mechanical thermostat was working just fine.

Eventually the sensor failed dramatically and ran the fans at full takeoff power until the battery died. But while it was still intermittent, the gauge acted weird (sorry, can't remember exact behavior).
