Default Help locating wiring harness for Side Assist

Hi, I have a B9 A5 Cabriolet and am about to have Park Assist retrofitted.
while the rear bumper is off, I’d like to get a pair of used radars and buy the correct wiring harness, and deal with the rest later.

Can anyone help me to figure out what wiring Harness is need, and if I sourced a pair of rear radars (beginning 4M0) in the US, would they work in my UK car (RHD)?

Thanks!

The rear side assist radars are 4M0907590 left (slave) and 4M0907566 right (master). There's no concern for the vehicle being LHD vs RHD. There's a rev letter on the end, but no explanation if those are different applications or just updates over time. B, D, E, F, G; later probably better, but just make sure both units are the same rev letter.

As for the rear bumper harness, it's 8W6971104 but there's lots of rev letters for different applications.
1) You'd have to say if you do not have rear parking sensors (7X0), do have rear parking sensors (7X1, 7X2), or have park steer assist (7X5, this adds the parking sensors at the wheel wells).
2) You were 7Y0, and converting to 7Y1.
3) the harness varies with the central locking PR code, 4F2,4F6,4I3 vs 4I6,4I7,4I8. Which is basically "with keyless entry" vs "without keyless entry", as I understand it.

thanks for the Info!

my car does have front and rear parking sensors, and it’s about to get park assist retrofitted at the same time.
no keyless entry

Im looking for the 2 door looms to connect to the door modules, as I don’t see a spare connector for side assist when I remove my mirror cap.
I do however have the correct door modules installed from factory.

My PR codes list is

7MV: Emission standard EU6 ZD/E/F
4UF: Driver/passenger airbag (passenger deactivatable)
6XD: Exterior mirrors, power-adjustable/ heated
5SJ: Door mirror, left, convex
6TS: Right exterior mirror, aspherical, large viewing field
1KF: Rear brake discs, disc diameter 18 inches, Black brake callipers, (NAR) J2D: Battery 380 A (68 Ah)
1LE: Disc brakes in front
1BE: Steel spring suspension (PASM) -20 mm
3FT: Convertible top/folding top, powered
5TG: Decorative inserts, brushed, matte aluminum
7X2: Ultrasound parking aid, front and rear
F0A: No special purpose vehicle, standard equipment
9G7: Belt-driven integrated starter alternator 12 V 110 - 180 A
0G7: tiptronic
0YL: Weight class 11, rear axle
0JH: Weight class 8, front axle
T2G: 4-cylinder SI engine 2.0 l unit 06L.D
3NZ: Unsplit rear seat bench, split folding backrest
8IT: LED headlights (standard LED)
U5B: Instrument insert, mph indication, GB
X2B: Code not found
QZ7: Power steering
1XW: Leather-wrapped multi-function sports steering wheel
8Q3: Headlight levelling - dynamic
9S8: Multi-function display/on-trip computer - active info display
8Z5: Not hot country

Understand that the radars are for side assist (7Y1), they are not part of park assist (7X5). Park assist uses the four front and four rear parking sensors as well as the four additional wheel well ultrasonic sensors. So if we assume you're adding park assist and side assist without keyless entry, that would be 8W6971104D if B9.0 or 8W6971104Q if B9.5.

Excellent! Yes, I currently have the front and rear sensors but am adding the wheel well sensors which come as part of the Park assist retrofit kit from CarSystems, and while the rear bumper is off, thought it would be good to add the rear side assist radars and their wiring.

Does a single loom connect the rear sensors, wheel well sensors AND radars?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah, that's why you need to know all those config details to know which rear bumper harness rev letter to pick, so it has all the correct plugs present. For B9.0, it appears they just did keyless or not. But B9.5, they got cheaper and made a different harness for all the different plug configs.

Just to add, as you have power folding mirrors, the side assist plug for the leds will be present as far as I remember. It won't just be loose under mirror cap however, it will be plugged into an empty slot into the plastic mirror housing.

Regards,
A

Does anyone have a picture of this side assist connector and where it would be hiding if I do have it?
I don’t have folding mirrors but do have the upgraded door modules so wanted to double check. I’ve popped off the mirror caps but there wasn’t anything obvious

hey, so looking at the picture you do have the plug for side assist. It's actually clipped into the plastic housing, see image attached. This is so no water gets into the connector pins. Just press the clip and remove the connector from the housing and plug into the side assist led.
