I am looking at a 2008 Audi S5 with a manual with 132,000 miles and I am questioning reliability and common issues. I am aware of the carbon build up but it seems a lot better than timing chains like on the B6/B7 S4’s
If taken care of and if it passed a pre purchased inspection would reliability be decent or would this car be a headache

The 4.2 is known to have an issue with the timing chain guides and tensioners. Mine failed at 135k miles. It cost approximately $9k at the dealer.
