Every time I had flats before I didn't need a TPMS to tell me, I knew right away.

I like TPMS. I first had it on a MINI in 2008 and I noticed that one tire was down about 5 lbs. I pumped the tire back and drove to a tire the next day and had it patched.I used to build single homes( merchant builder ). I used to get flats on a regular basis. Having TPMS could have saved me a lot of headaches.

A TPMS equipped car would not be a non-starter for me — mu wife’s 7 year old RDX has it — but it would present another obstacle as I keep (2) different sets of wheels & tires and that would require an additional set of sensors. Certainly not a big deal, but just something to consider.

As an old school geezer, every time I get ready to drive a car, I do a walk-around visual of the car. Every Saturday morning I’m checking the tire pressures and fluid levels and making any required adjustments.

So, I’m not anti-tech, just used to doing it myself. As always, YMMV.

And that's why it's not called a flat monitoring system. It's a bit more subtle than that.

I always do a walk around as well looking at the tires, the plate and for any damage. People look at me like something is wrong with me...
