It's not that bad.

I would look at the retrofit solution developed by RSNAV. Here is the link to the B9 retrofit. It's basically an android tablet, that has a pass through to allow the display of the original audi interface and the android software has an app that runs carplay so you can have your touchscreen carplay experience on a bigger screen. (I'm not affiliated with RSNAV nor have I purchased it myself but I've been following their products for a while.)

Can't be done easily. The units are completely different in size, location, and functionality.

Can't be done at all, the facelift is using the new MIB3 system to run MMI, which is completely different in terms of hardware and software.

Well I guess I won't have to worry about doing this. It was not financially reasonable anyways.

But of a defeatist attitude around here. Looks like they're able to do it in singapore. https://www.carousell.sg/p/audi-a5-a...de-1026627973/
I have the 7" screen - would go to the 10.1 for nothing other than larger map, and certainly if touch for carplay. even if touch is not possible, surely someone will want to swap MIB 3 eventually? or is that not how the audi scene works?

My guess is that is not a MIB3 upgrade. That is just a larger android screen that take the MMI input and displays the original output as well as all the other stuff the android screen is designed to show. e.g. Spotify, Google maps etc.
These sorts of non OEM upgrades have been around for quite a while.
I thought the original question was an OEM upgrade from MIB2 to MIB3 with everything that goes with it.

It's be similar to this.

The link says they’re using the OEM touchscreen. But yes, I agree that it’s only the screen they upgraded; the software remains unchanged.

I had a touchscreen in my Passat, Discoverpro 2 which was nice but found myself using steering wheel controls most of the time and given the b9 comes with voice activation software as well as a large map for driver I couldn't make the case for upgrading it.

I also kept a dedicated cloth to wipe my wifes fingermarks off the screen on a regular basis something I won't have to worry about now
