Default $2500 for Phantom Black on an A5?!

Is Audi trying to get me to _not_ buy a car?

First it was the auto-only on the A4 avant. I can understand this because of US certification costs.
Then it's requiring Premium Plus to get the S-line.

NOW, it's that everything above the A3/TT come in Phantom Black (well, _except_ the A5). Does Audi need to differentiate the A5 and S5 that much?

Of course, I could just get Brilliant Black and put the $2500 towards detailing costs for the next 10 years . . . or not.

Default I haven't seen brilliant/phantom side by side buy my dealer says they are *very* close.

For $2500... save it... or a spend the $2500 and get a custom colour other than phantom black.

I spent an hour at my dealership, under the bright sun, and could not, from more than one foot away, tell the difference between the two colors. Save your $$ in my opinion!

Default Didn't want to start a PB/BB war - it's just that it's absurd

Just venting. To offer a color on every car except one means they're just playing stupid sales games. But I can't see how they would think someone would buy an S5 over an A5 simply because of a single color.

Yes, the colors are worlds apart, despite looking almost identical.
Main issue would be the maintenance. Gloss black = PITA.

Default Its on the showroom floor at the Audi Exchange in the burbs of Chicago (highland park), its

at sticker as never titled obviously...the orange one is still there too. Just saw them both two weeks ago. Horrid. I was talking with one of the younger sales guys and he like me has no idea what they were thinking and how it will ever sell. Both were special orders the dealership did.
