2001 S4 vs. 2013 S5

My 2001 S4 is APR-chipped and supposedly produces 350 HP and 300 ft-lbs, so I didn't notice the S5 being all that much quicker on test drives (though I know it is).
No wonder you can't let it go...if you ever sell it, you might be better off using the classifieds here, where someone would gladly take your tuned S4 off your hands.

Okay, I done did it!
I ordered a 2013 S5, Monsoon Gray with black Napa interior, plus carbon fiber trim, the B&O sound system, and the sports diff.
I didn't trade in the 2001 S4, however. Blue Book is only about $7K. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, long term. But I'm thinking of driving it through the winter (I live in WI where it snows). The new S5 isn't due to arrive until Jan--the dead of winter--so rather than screwing with snow tires for the S5, maybe I'll just store it until the weather gets nice. Still, I can't wait to drive it! Maybe I'll just sit in it and listen to the B&O until spring arrives.
Thanks to all for their advice!

You won't be sorry. I went to the dealership to replace my 2009 A4 2.0 with a convertible (live in San Diego). Test drove the A4 Cabrio and the one S5 Cabrio they had. 2013 S5 Prestige with every option. It's absolutely amazing and totally worth the effort of getting one. Got lucky that the dealership had this one sitting in the showroom for 2 months because it was the absolute top of the line. As a repeat customer, they gave me a great deal.
To sum up: 2013 Monsoon Grey, 7-Speed S-Tronic, Convertible, Prestige, Driver Assist, Adaptive Suspension, Carbon Inlays, B&O
You will not regret it.

Since I got my '09 CPO S5 in May, I have put 15,000 happy miles on it. My ride before that was an '01 S4 (Nogaro/silver). Had that one for 9 years and put 254,000 miles on that trusty steed. Finished with the original tranny, clutch and engine. Really loved that car and sold it to my pal who is a certified Audi mechanic. He is going to make a monster out of it. Before that, '99 A4 with 150,000. Beautiful handling but lackluster car.
The S5 is in a completely different dimension of sophistication, style and elegance. I wanted a manual tranny and the V8 and neither has disappointed. I installed a Meisterwork short shifter which I think is a perfect match for the V8 - a symphony of an engine. Yes, it attracts attention - especially in red.
Bottom line is that the S5 is the very big brother of the B5 S4. Everything you loved about that car you will love more in the S5.
Happy trails.
