Hey guys, Ive been tied up about this question and have not been able to tell the dealer what I want. Some people recommend the V8 due to the grunt it makes whereas others told me to get the V6T because it has DSG and better gas mileage. I am very tied up. I really want the grunt but I also want the DSG. Please help me soon because I need to head to the dealership in 4 days. Also I was wondering if the 2011 have any new features and new selections when it comes to choosing colors for the interior.

the old 4.2 355ps is being discontinued through the model range (S5,A6,Q7)due to various (read: obsolete) reasons.
S5 MY2011:
V6 compressor 333ps
RS5 takes over as new home for V8 (4.2l 450ps)
North America introduction date still under discussion (but during MY2011 is 99.99% certain).
cheers
S5 MY2011:
V6 compressor 333ps
RS5 takes over as new home for V8 (4.2l 450ps)
North America introduction date still under discussion (but during MY2011 is 99.99% certain).
cheers

just think through yourself - why would they want to keep running two engines at the time with the same designation when one is producing much less power but burns much more oil and emits more CO2. and apart from that all other sister models (S5 conv, sportb) from the same line use the new, up-to-date, engine solution.
also note that NA market is not the one that sets the product strategies (as of yet!).

Doesn't look like it's confirmed (since I can't find link to press release etc). But logically Audi will have to put V6 SC into S5 soon, causu S4 and S5 vert already running V6 SC.

my guess is the S5 V8 will continue on.. if they would have wanted to switch they would have done it already in the coupe as they did with the Convertible, so for whatever reason they may have, the V8 will live forever in S5 Coupe. I tend to check audi.de ( audi in germany ) and they still have the S5 V8 on production so taking into account that any engine change would happen in Europe first, I don't think the S5 Coupe will ever see the V6T.

i wouldnt be suprised if they kept the engine for another year(it will never be forever) But it will probably be in europe 6 months before we get it in the state. Also they probably have warehouses full of parts for the 4.2 since its been around for awhile, i wouldnt be suprised for them to sell the engine until inventory gets low.
