#1 Fail: Taking advice on how to drive from a car salesman

#2 Fail: Thinking that a long clutch pedal travel has anything to do with having an ability to use the pedal as a foot rest

#3 Fail: Not realizing that poor habits (resting a foot on the clutch pedal (who does that anyway? LOL)) are a contributing factor to clutch damage/issues.

Sorry, but this post if full of fail.

Have never heard of anyone using "long clutch travel so you can rest your foot on the clutch" as a sales tactic.

Was that the tipping point for your cousin deciding to buy the car?

I find this whole thread unreal. Using a clutch to rest your foot?! One of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

What's next, electronic gas pedals were designed to allow people to rest their right foot? Oh wait, maybe that is the reason for the unintended acceleration accidents. :P

There's a freaking dead pedal directly to the left of the clutch pedal. How hard is it to move your foot a couple of inches from the clutch pedal to the dead pedal when you aren't using it?

Seriously... the OP almost smells like spaniardone. Not that I have taken a huge whiff of that bugger.

Well, I know that's how I do it ...

My favorite Audi dealer quote, regarding changing the brake fluid..."are you sure you're supposed to do that, on an Audi?"

Enjoy your 5s! There's a 5 on my wish list, but I'm still getting acquainted with a gently loved A6 ...
