A5 2.0T Cabriolet finishes second in field of 4 to BMW 328ic in latest C&D comparo
The A5 2.0T quattro cabriolet in this comparison test stickered for a whopping $61,800. Again Audi fields a fully loaded car (Prestige trim with ADS and a bunch of other options) for another comparison test and pays the price in value points lost. The other contestanst in this $50K convertible comparison test were the Lexus IS350 (4th place) and Infiniti G37 cabriolet (3rd place). The Audi posted acceleratuion numbers which were quite good, considering the heft of the car and bottom of the class 211-hp engine. The winner, 328i automatic, posted the slowest 0-60 time of 7.3 seconds, more than 2 seconds behind the IS350 (5.2).
The A5 looks the best in class, however, with a dark metallic blue color over a brownish 2-tone interior, a classic color combo that shows off the lovely interior.

Too early for a link. It's in the latest issue which arrived in my mailbox a couple of days ago. It will show up later on the C&D website. I think the A5 finished with 198 points to 204 for the Bimmer. The Japanese models were behind the A5 by 2-4 points.

i think its silly for C&D to use such a fully loaded Audi when it adds nothing to the performance of the car.
if they had used a premium plus instead of prestige would audi have scored higher?

It was pretty crazy for C&D to test a $61k A5 Cab. My S5 Cab Prestige was only $65k, and I know from shopping around prior to buying it that I could have gotten a fully loaded 335i Convertible for $61k. As much as I love the Audi, even I would have gone with a 335 Vert if it was the same price as an A5 Cab. No wonder the Audi lost in value points.

Audi provides the car. It's their fault that C&D had an option-bloated car to test.
This has been discussed before, how Audi provides heavily-optioned cars for these magazine tests, thereby losing out on the cost comparison every time. It's happened enough times now to conclude that it is intentional on Audi's part.
