Some kids were fooling around with our A5. With the doors open they manually pushed the door latches into the locked position. This leaves the car in a state where the doors do not close, and the latches just bump into the pins when you try to close them. Unlocking using the key (electronic or manual) does not unlock the latches. I noticed if you manually put the hatch lock in this position it is also stuck and can not be unlocked by the key, however, there is a manual release inside the hatch that fully opens the latch (I believe this is for safety).

How can the door lock latches be reset?

And here is the answer: pull on the door openers (inside) and while holding them in the "open" position use a screwdriver to return the latches to their normal position.
