Just got an e-mail from the dealership with which I have been dealing over the past ten years saying that they are offering their "employee/family" price for anything on the lot -- new or pre-owned (even the R8) -- until March 31.
Anyone got an idea as to what this really means? Invoice? Something below invoice? Just above invoice?

The only way to know would be to take a copy of that email to that specific dealership and ask them.
While AoA may have a set "employee price structure", it's not public knowledge like the employee price structures of US domestic manufacturers.
It sounds to me like that specific dealership is willing to offer similar retail prices on all their current stock. But that's not an AoA program.
If I were to hazard a wild guess as to the prices they'll ask, I'd put it at somewhere very slightly north of invoice.

i'll prob go in over the weekend and see what kinda smack they be talkin'.
i'm guessing this "deal" applies ONLY to the stock on the lot at this particular moment in time? ...and not to anything the dealership already has on order per the dealership's "allocation" or for their general stock (excluding specific orders from clients)?
oh, and i guess it should be noted that i'm interested in a new A5 -- either one of the couple currently on the lot OR one that happens to be in port and is scheduled to be at the dealership in about a month or so...

It's BS. Just another ploy to get people to come in. Then when you do, you learn the loophole and it's just business as usual. Folks, there are a million ways a dealership will advertise. If it sounds too good to be true, it IS too good to be true. Audi has no amazing programs going on right now and dealerships are not going to cut off thousands more for a deal w/o Audi's help. In the end, prices are all pretty much the same and each dealership can only go down a certain amount. Do not fall for any of these ads, they are a complete waste of time and gas. Best way to buy is through the internet or fleet department.
