Default A6 to A5

Anyone go from driving A6(C6) 3.2 to the A5 3.2?
I have a 2008 A6 3.2 and considering the A5. I would like a bit more power and wondering if the extra 10HP and lower weight of the A5 feels much different in terms of power than in the A6.
Otherwise, I may have to look into an S5.

I drove both (own the A6 also) and the A5 does seems a tiny bit faster. After all, it's the same 3.2 engine, you will have to press the gas pedal to the RPM of over 3k to get the car really start going. Try the S5, that will prob satisfy you much better than the A5.

I went from an '06 A6 to an '09 S5 last April, and it's been nothing but sheer driving enjoyment since then. I did test drive the A5 while making my purchase decision. The A5 is (and feels) quicker than the A6, but if it's power you want, then an S5 is the way to go.

If you ever have passengers, get into the A5 back seat and see how his feels. I tried it in an A5 at the local dealer and was very disappointed about the rear seat feeling. I'm 5'8" and 180 lbs ... and it was way to small for comfort and hard to get in and out of.

It might not be an issue for you, but coming from an A6 with decent back seat room, you should at least be aware of it.

The A5 looks very sharp though, much nicer than the A6 ...

I have an'05 A6 and an '09 A5. While not a whole lot faster than the A6, the power delivery is much better on the A5. The A6 is hard to launch smoothly unless one is in sport mode; the A5 launch from stand still is much better.

I find the power in the 3.2 to be just fine, but I've got other cars in the garage if I feel racy. The biggest difference between the two cars is handling. The A6 lacks road feel, and is very uninspiring to drive; it wants to plow through turns. It's nose heavy and doesn't want to change directions. It's a great car when I want to take my time--I tend to drive fairly aggresively and the the A6 is like automotive Valium. The A5, on the other hand, is actually fun to drive. Sure, it's not a sports car, but it still rewards the driver.

Default According to Audi, the A5 is 1 second faster 0-60 MPH

I agree with the comments above. A5 feels faster, lighter, nimbler and takes the corners quite well. Looks are amazing... an Italian designed this German auto giving us the best of two worlds. The A6 was a solid, roomy but somewhat booring car. The new 3.0T feels lighter and faster however and is as fast as the A5 now.

When I first got the A5 home, I had a few days of buyers remorse thinking that it was too small and did not have a practical rear seat and 4 doors. Weird how it felt after having an A6 for 3 years. That went away within the week and it has been love ever since. While it is plenty fast, I would recommend getting the S5 as that is pure beauty with smooth power delivered effortlessly, anytime.

A5 3.2L is about same speed as A6 4.2L and A6 3.0T.
A6 3.2 is about 1 sec slower.
S5 is about 1 sec faster zero to 60 MPH.

Not to start a war, but that post above is totally wrong. I have a 2005 A6 4.2 and my car feels muuuch faster than an A5 3.2L. The A5 3.2 feels pretty doggish and slow, imo. Also, an 05-06 A6 4.2 runs mid/low 14s in the 1/4, as does the all new 3.0T. A 3.2L A5 runs low 15s. That's a sizeable difference.

And the S5 runs mid/low 13s.

Honestly if you're going to make a change why not really make a change? To me it's a bit boring to get a new car with the same exact engine. Why not get the S5 and really feel a significant performance gain?

Just be sure you're not going to miss four doors. Because if you are you may want to consider the S4.
