Default Definitely

Although MTM holds the prize for really pushing the limits on an S5. We are all conservative in comparison.

Default that's not what I'm saying. What I'm trying to say is that for a wheel to be so close to rubbing...

that whether it rubs or not depends on the tire brand, is crazy.

I understand when trying to fit larger tires than rec for the wheel - ie: trying to squeeze 295s on when the rim calls for a 275, you're asking for trouble. But, for a rim/tire set-up to be that close that you can only run certain brands of tires - that's nuts IMO.

Default I'm not complaining at all, just saying that it seems bit nuts to me to spend $3500 on rims...

and then not be able to fit different brands of tires on them.

As I said above, I understand if you try to squeeze 295s on and they rub, oh well. But, to need a specific brand of 275 is crazy. While different 275s are wider than others, it shouldn't be that close that it's an issue.

That's all I'm trying to say.

Default I swore I wasn't going to mod the S5....

because I had bad experience with aftermarket wheels (bent, damage to lips, etc) but your car looks so awesome, I might just have to cure the mod bug bite.

Default well.... some would say we are crazy spending so much on an A5/S5.

want practical... get a Civic/Corolla... or splurge and get an Accord/Camry.

A5/S5's are the most practical vehicles.

Default You can specify that you want all tires to fit and they will give you....

conservative offsets that will make your car look like a wimpy dog with his tail tucked over his ballz..... :-)

Default the point is, there is nothing secret about wheel specs. Why should a manufacturer not....

tell the customer what offset their rims are?

Seems just as stupid to me.

See the link, the mystery of the DPE offset has been solved!

I guess what I was getting at, is that it
s so easy for someone just to measure one that it seems silly for a manufacturer not to just tell the customer.

That's all.

I don't care that much, just making a point.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a5/msgs/27952.phtml</a
