For All S5 Owners, Do You Drive Tip Or 6 Speed and Why?
#81
I would respectfully disagree with your statement about the C6 Vette Auto vs. the S5Tip. I traded in an auto C6 on my tip S5, after having test-driven both the manual and tip S5, and feel the S5's tranny is MUCH crisper than the Vette's, especially on the 1-2 upshift. There was quite a lag on the Vette's tranny. And as far as driving a tip-equipped S5, couldn't be happier. The Vette's power may spank the S5, but the S5 definitely outhandles the Vette, never once have felt like the rear of the S5 would break away on me, but pushed hard, I could tell the Vette was "flirtin' with disaster." The only thing I wish Audi would have done is make the paddles like the Vette, each side worked the same, push for upshift, pull for downshift. I use the paddles quite frequently, but there are those times I just want to cruise to work down the freeway and sip my coffee and I can. And I didn't dislike the manual S5, but after driving for 39 years, the majority of them with at least 1 manual in the garage, I don't need a manual to prove my driving ability to anyone. And, I can get my manual jollies in my Jeep, or with my left foot on one of my two motorcycles. Nice Jeep, pic, BTW, Moab? Just did White Rim Trail in 1 day on a BMW 1200GS.
