Its about the same mpg I got with my previous A4 but due to the smaller gas tank I can't go as many miles between fill ups as I did in the A4.
If I recall correctly, the A5's gas tank is 16.9 gallons.

To the OP, that doesn't sound right. In regular city traffic (similar to what you described) I'm usually in the 18-22mpg range depending on if I punch it a few times.

What gas mileage are you getting on the highway?

I don't do a lot of highway travel but I do take the express way maybe once or twice a month 20 miles each way. I do recall slightly better gas mileage on that tank. Maybe 18MPG.

My current tank (filed up at 5 miles to go) shows I've traveled 175 miles and 75 left. I will let it run down as much as possible and then maulally calculate the mpg, but it looks like it will be in the 13-15mpg range again.

If this is the case, do any of you know what the issue could be, especially on a new car.

BTW, if it matters, I fill up with premium. USually BP or Shell

I do 90% open highway (push it hard) and getting about 24-27 mpg
thats on a convertible 2.0 that weighs more with big 20" tires and 285 rear tires (which should have a negative effect on MPG)

ODD numbers you're getting

IIRC, there is a way to adjust via VAG-COM the correction factor of the formula that the DIS uses to calculate MPG, so there is a very slight possibility that this has been set incorrectly. However, if you can be 100% sure that the issue is not w/ the DIS (ie you've done your own manual calculations), then there is something definitely wrong.

On a 30-mile highway trip going at about 75 MPH consistently, your MPG should be in the mid-to-high 20s. If you can reproduce this, then you should be fine. I cannot stress enough the fact that MPGs will read low on the DIS for very short trips.

Unfortunately, I do not know enough about cars to speculate what could cause excessive fuel consumption.

My fill-ups are usually somewhere between 14 and 15 gallons. (Audi's site says 17 gallons.) I track my mileage using Road Trip LE, a free app for iPhone. Over 6300 miles, I'm averaging about 21.5 mpg and I'm in a pretty hilly area. If you're seeing under 15 mpg with laid back driving, something definitely sounds off. You might try figuring the mileage manually for a couple fill-ups to verify what the car's readout is telling you. I've heard they can be misleading at times, which is why I track with the phone app.

I get 28-32mpg at highway speed on my 23mile daily commute to work. If you are getting 21mpg then something is not right. Do you have a chip installed or someone has mess with your ECU? I am sure if you take a long trip at some point you will your mpg's increased drasticaly.

Default Maybe your gas gauge calibration is off?

I have a A5 Cabrio Quattro 2.0T, and I get 19-21 city; 26-30 highway.

Thats what I'm thinking. I am at 195 miles and 45 tog go according to computer. I am going to my inlaws tonight which is about 20 miles (highway) I will fill up there and do the manual calculation.

If my average is about 15mpg this tank should I take it to Audi?

BTW no chip and no modifications. Car was leased 2/27/10

U bet u should. I leased my car a week after you and I'm getting 25-26 mpg overall driving! I only fueled the car with 93 Octane gas and you should check your oil level too. I had to add some around 2300 miles.

Called Prestige Audi. They told me to try a different Gas company. I usually use BP and Shell. Will try Chevron per their recommendation. The person I spoke to told me he has no idea how they could check why the mileage is so low, but that I should not push the engine when I drive. I told him I have specifically avoided going past 2000-2500 rpm. I will try measuring one more tank manually and then call them again.

If the mpg remains low is there anything I can do, or am I basically stuck with it?
