Default Audi A5 gets new FSI engine

The first four-cylinder engine to power the all-new Audi A5 coupé joins the UK range this week, and fittingly it too is also a completely new design. The advanced, directly injected successor to the familiar 1.8-litre Turbo petrol unit that has powered A3, A4, A6 and TT models in the past creates the A5 1.8 TFSI, which is available to order now for an OTR price of £26,190. First UK deliveries are expected in late November.

4wheelsblog

Default 1.8T Not coming to the states, but the new V6 is highly improved

The new VL V6 gets 10% more mpg in the European test compared to the old FSI V6 (comparison based on the B7/B8 A4s)

Default But is that due to European only extremely lean burn mode?

Which currently isn't available stateside until the fuel quality is improved.

Default No

No leanburn in Europe either. It's due to VL (6%) and general engine improvements like a 20% more efficient AC and so on.

https://www.audiworld.com/news/07/b8-a4-in-depth/engines/</a

Default Cool stuff.

I wonder why the lean burn mode was dropped?
