Use the following formula to calculate a lease payment:

(Cap Cost - Residual Value) / Term = Depreciation
(Cap Cost + Residual Value) X Money Factor = Interest
Depreciation + Interest = Base Monthly Payment

Here is a great online publication about leasing: <a href="http://www.autoleaseinsider.blogspot.com/2007/03/auto-lease-insider-introduction.html"><b>Auto Lease Insider</b></a>.

Default The last few times I've worked lease deals with Audi their best deals have been

on 39 or 42 month leases but LeaseCompare never posts those numbers. That's my experience though.

Might as well drive the car that you want. The difference in monthly payments is not that huge...

Are banks offering any better money factor and residual values for March. These lease rates are horrible...I've never leased from Audi, are these rates typical for their new cars?...and finally, can anyone speculate when and if they will ever improve?

Yeah,

a 3/36 lease on a $49,500 335 with zero down was going to cost me $740/month on the BMW and a 3/36 lease on my A5 ($49175) through AFS with zero down was going to cost me $960/mo. through Afs. i would say that's a CONSIDERABLE DIFFERENCE - enough to justify choosing the BMW over the audi (obviously if you like both).

that's why i told my dealer (regrettably) to hand over my keys to someone else when my A5 showed up, but then the Finance lady swung for the fences and got $833/month through US Bank... and now i am in the A5 !

Similar boat. Bought audis from the same dealership for the past decade. Not that I expect special treatment for that, but all I've gotten re an S5 is runaround and incredibly high lease quotes.

335 coupes were hot, but are not as much so now, probably due to the combination of the economy and the introduction of the S5.

I snagged one for about $1k over invoice with BMW's buy rate lease financing. Combined with the high residual, my monthly payment on a car that lists for almost $48k is $696/month with nothing other than first month and security deposit down. Fair deal, but a great one when compared to what my audi dealership was quoting me.

I'll go with the 335i for 3 years then revisit the S5 when the market for these cars has become more rational.
