Default Audi Care Package. Worth it?

Hey,

I just purchased a 2010 A5 and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth purchasing the Audi Care Package. The cost is $740 (this seems pretty steep). Anybody have any thoughts? Would I just be better off servicing it at an outside facility?

Thanks!

Yes. Consider that if anything were to go wrong, the first incident + labor will probably already pay for itself.

AudiCare covers only scheduled maintenance, not repairs. Repairs are cover under the 4yr B2B warranty anyways.

I paid $590 for it but it was essentially free since it increased residual by 1% (MSRP $55,750), so the actual cost was $590-$557.50=$32.50.

I am debating on the same issue...

What's included in the maintenance?

oil and filter change at 10,000 miles??? or is it your normal 3,000?

If I drive the car about 8,000 miles per year... then is it really worth it?

I figure that they tend to scare people... I bought a Ducati 1098R and they told that the initial service was going to be $500 and they were selling a maintenance pkg for $950.... I was really skeptical about it... so I rolled the dice.... and took my chances.

When I went to the the initial maintenance... it only costed me $150.

Are high-end dealers using scare tactics?

Does anyone out there know the cost of maintenance? What's included in the maintenance schedule?

I decided not to do it on the S5 I just took delivery on. It only covers the 15,000, 25,000, 35,000 and 45,000 mile services, which are basically oil and filter changes. Even with the oil capacity of the V8 it didn't compute for me.

Unless I'm mistaken, it also covers the 5,000 mile service.

Best suggestion, ask your dealer what the cost of the covered services would be if you plan on having it done there. I tend to do this for the first 50k so I can grab any silent recalls/updates that are done on the car.

The 5,000 mile service is free for everybody (in the U.S.) - no Audi Care needed.

Oh right. That's true. But it's still a nice extra bit of peace of mind.

I've been debating the merits of buying Audi Care myself. I hadn't realized there was a 5-year limit. There is a very good chance I won't hit 45K within those 5 years (I live 4 miles from work). So now I'm thinking it wouldn't be a good deal for me.
