Default Audi S5 Wheel lug nuts / bolts

H guys,

I plan to fit a set of OEM RS5 wheels on my Audi S5 next week. The person who had the car before me seems to have fitted spacers to the original wheels (approx 15mm-20mm) so I needed to get some original sized wheel bolts to fit the RS5 wheels without the spacers. Original RS5 wheels already have a 7mm difference (they are et26 and original s5 wheels are et 33) so I think they would stick out way too much and potentially rub if I used the spacers on them...

I managed to get a set of Wheel Bolts/Nuts from Motorist Discount Centre in the UK. The seem to be decent quality from what I can tell. They are M14 x 1.5 and 17mm hex head. However they are 28mm length. OEM are 27mm length from what I can tell. I have been told 1mm of extra length should make no difference, is anyone able to confirm that for me? I don't want the wheels to be loose on the car!!!

Thanks

The car uses lug bolts. The shape of the mating surface is very important - - they must match the wheel. I'm certain your Audi main dealer could find the correct mating parts, but they'll be expensive.

Have you verified the lug bolts you have will not work?

The shape etc is all fine as it matches the originals, the only difference is the 1mm extra length. Audi were charging three times the price for the lug bolts so I got aftermarket ones instead. Any idea if the 1mm extra length matters? The manufacturers say it will be fine but I just wanted to double check

The 1mm difference will not be a concern.

Why don't you just use your existing OEM wheel bolts, which are the correct spec?

Whilst it is possible that a 28mm will still fully seat, it should have been much easier to find the correct 27mm length in the UK rather than the incorrect 28mm length you have just bought. Like either of these two, just by example, which are less than £1 each:
Tamar Wheels
SpotOn UK

What is even more important is that the new bolts use ball/radius seats, and not conical/tapered, as uberwgn implied. Assuming you have indeed been sold radius seat bolts (you say they match your originals), then what Motorist Discount Centre in the UK sold you was wheel bolts for the VW Transporter van.

I do not have the original ones. I brought the car which already had spacers fitted so the wheel bolts on the car at the moment are a lot longer than 27mm...
