B8 Interior question - what are the slots to the right of the gear shift for?

Have you seen the inside of the vertical slots? But if you don't want to believe its a coin holder,
then you can always think its a vent for some cool air to keep your hand cool on the shifter By the way those round things by the arm rest, are those cup holders? Cause they could also be double ashtrays...

If you are looking for the temp sensor, then look above the A/C button. It's right there. Pic inside

Dealers may not always know, that is true, but this IS a coin holder.
