Default Back Seat room...

Have an S4 on order, but I saw a friends S5 the other day, and was absolutely stunned by it. Only problemo is that I have two little kids (5 and 3 years). No long rides (we'll take the wife's Volvo XC), just short jaunts a few times a week.

Is the back seat at all useful for this (and is access reasonable), or will I go mad?

The back seats have plenty of room for your kids. Not for an adult though. Leg room is okay, I'm skinny and 5ft10. I can fit back there. The prob is when I sit straight up, head room is a little tight and the back isn't leaning backward enough. I can imagine me sitting back there at most 30 min before getting sick of the ride. But that's just me and I'm an adult.

Oh just a little note, if you're buying this car, keep in my that you should only have 2 people in the car including yourself. For me, it's more of a safety reason.

I did European Delivery for my S5 (still waiting for it to arrive in the states) with three other people. We drove 990 miles in 6 days. The two people who sat in the back the whole time are 5'6" and 5'2". They both remarked that the seats are very comfortable. Leg room was ok - not great, but not uncomfortable. They never once complained about being uncomfortable.

If they can survive 990 miles in 6 days, most everyone should be able to survive "short jaunts a few times a week."

Default Cabrio back seat better than the coupe

I'm still waiting for my cabrio to be delivered (expecting it next week!) I'm 6-3" tall and so am very conscious of head and leg room, so when I took test drive I spent time riding in the back. Yes, my friend in front inched his front passenger seat forward a bit, but not so far that his knees hit the dashboard, and that made enough rear room that I was actually quite comfortable. And when the top went up, I still was able to keep sitting up straight. I didn't try the coupe but I was told that the soft top has more headroom than the coupe.

Why do you say that?

The room is enough for not big people. It may be hard to strap the kids in there on a regular basis. Try it out, and also, try out a sedan.

My five year old in a booster loves it and has plenty of room. He was in it regularly for 45-60 min at a time. Just make sure you enable video in motion for your kids then you should have no worries.

Well, if anything happens, whoever sit back there will have a harder tme getting out. That's just me. I don't drive anyone back there unless it's a very short trip and there isn't another option.

Seems like there's enough room for the kiddies. Guess my other concern would be access. Is your kid able to climb in and out without too much hassle, and without scuffing everything up?

I have a boster and forward facing child seat in my and they fit just fine. My oldest can get in and out of the car, but you'll want to help them so the heavy door doesn't close on them.
