does anyone have brake squeal? i brought it to dealer and they said it was fixed, but it wasn't.
i washed my car today and sprayed the calipers. squeak seems to be going away .... although it is warmer today and i notice it is much louder when colder. can brake dust cause squealing? my mazda 3 daily car is 80k miles and i never had this prob even though i haven't washed the car in a year.

I have 10k on my A5...no brake squeals. My Q7 had an unwarrented brake squeal - the dealer found out a piece of hardened tar had somehow gotten wedged between the caliper and rotor.

How many miles do you have on the car?
I had brake squeal on mine when I first picked it up. After about 800 miles the squeal started getting less. I now have 1400 miles and its just about completely gone.

No brake squeal here, but there is a long thread in the S4 forum. Seems like many owners of new S4's have it. Not sure if they are the same brakes on both models.

I have over 16,000 miles on my 2008 A5. My brakes started squealing -- sometimes -- quite a few miles ago. I mentioned it to the dealer a while back and was told it's from dirt buildup. They suggested I ask my car detailer to be sure to hose down the wheels/brakes thoroughly when washing the car. I didn't necessarily believe that explanation/solution, but figured it was worth a try especially since I live in the desert where there is an excess of dust and dirt.
According to a recent thread on the A5OC forum, there is a TSB for brake squeal. I haven't asked my dealer about it yet. However, I have been paying close attention to my car over the past year and, indeed, the dirtier it gets, the worse the brake squeal becomes. For example, I just had the car washed/waxed and when I drove it today there was absolutely no brake squeal at all. So, while there may indeed be a technical issue, it is obvious that dirt at least aggravates the problem.

Not sure if this will help or not, but I had this problem a lot with my old B5 S4. It was dust related - the brake dust would build up and make noise. On that car it was mostly the rears, so I would pull the ebrake up one click while cruising down the highway for about 30 secs. That would solve the problem for about a week...
Since you can't do that on an S5, maybe try getting up to about 60 and panic braking as hard as you can to a stop. That could heat up the pads enough to get rid of the dust...
