My 2011 S4 has the same problem. They told me the coating on the exhaust, but I'm still smelling it at 10,000 miles. I think I'm going to bring it in.

After 10,000 miles, the burning plastic smell should definitely be gone.

Well, it ended up being 2 little birds the flew into the grill and got wedged in front of the radiator. Now it smells like it should a new car. So I suggest anyone with a burning smell, consider giving the car a good inspection in the radiator raea, the grill has pretty big holes in it that can allow things like birds get in to it.

Be sure to wash the egg off your face, along with cleaning the bird residue off the face of your radiator.

Happy New Year!

Also, don't freak out about the fuel pump priming noise when you open the driver's door, the white smoke from the exhaust upon starting and the rear electronic parking brake engage/disengage noise.

.... nor the window ingeniously opening slightly when you open the door to preclude the sudden increase in static pressure when you subsequently get in and close the door.

It really has that specific of a purpose? I thought it was to allow for a better seal to the weatherstripping for lowering wind noise and to reduce the chance of water leakage.
