Default Buying a used S5 out of warranty

Is it a bad idea to buy a used 2008 S5 out of warranty? Is it worth the extra about 5k to buy one from the dealer with the extended warranty?

I know they get carbon buildup but I read it is extremely difficult to get it covered under warranty anyways. Thats about the only common problem I hear with them. Any input would be appreciated!

Personally, I would not own any hi-line Euro car without some sort of strong warranty to protect me.

FWIW, the CPO program is quite excellent.

But is there any serious problems with the S5 that I would really need it? They seem to be fairly reliable cars.

hahaha. buy it CPO.

my 22k 09 s5 has had broken parking module, broken hood switch and some other minor things. biggest of all, entire 6 speed gear box replaced at 20k miles.

The question should be, are you willing and able to afford the repairs should they arise ? When buying a used car, regardless of make and model, NEVER assume anything.

I agree with the others, I would go the CPO route.

These cars aren't cheap to fix.

So, unless you have a great shop you trust, it would be quite a gamble.
